The Dub Gathering session series continues – this time with a famous and legendary guest from London/ UK. The Jah Vibes crew welcomes Ras Terry Gad, member of Jah Trinity Soundsystem and Roots Vibration Sound.
Ras Terry Gad’s career in soundsystem business dates back to 1980 when he, his brother Milton and two friends set up the “Lord Demonstrator Hi-Power” soundsystem based in Gloucester. The soundsystem quickly made its mark next to other well-established sounds. Shifting from a musical mix of militant cultural music and lighter entertainment to roots and culture music led to the decision to found a new sound with new handcrafted speaker cabinets and a new name “Jah Trinity”. That was in 1985. From this date on Jah Trinity grew up to a constant in the UK Dub scene, playing next to Jah Shaka, Aba Shanti I, Iration Steppers, Jah Youth and many more. The sound took a new road when Milton immigrated to Australia in ’89. Jah Trinity continues to being active in the soundsystem scene with dances in Europe and Australia. Since Jah Trinity is well equiped with stashes of dubplates you won’t hear many tunes played in their sessions anywhere else.

Another roots gem will be released on the Roots Tribe Records label by the end of october. None other than London based singer Cyrenius Black performs the uplifting “Sufferation” tune. His confident voice is accompanied by the Dynamite horns section, giving the riddim its tight and slick character. The A-side is rounded up by a horns version of the vocal tune, followed by two dubs on the B-side, where Slimmah Sound seasons the riddim with some serious echoes and delays. We look forward to the upcoming release. Give thanks!
